I have a lot of passions in my life. A passion for being a great wife to my
husband. A passion for being a great mother to my children. A passion for taking pictures that speak to
people. A passion for writing. A passion for crafting. A passion for people seeing Jesus in me. But all these passions aren’t goals…they are more like arrows that lead me
to Jesus.
“The spirit of Jesus lives
inside us. He intends to continue moving
on earth in me the way He moved on earth as himself- doing only what He sees
His Father doing. “ - Emily Freeman
Jesus moved when His Father told Him to. Jesus did what His Father asked Him to. Jesus kept His eyes on His Father the whole
time He walked this earth.
I can look at my passions and start to think…but do I really
make a difference? What I’m doing right
now…does that really even matter? It’s
just a picture. It’s just laundry. It’s just cleaning the bathroom. It’s just picking up toys. It’s just a blog. The “It’s just” statements can suck the life
out of my passions.
It’s a get to. I get
to take this picture. I get to do this
laundry for the family that I love. I
get to clean these bathrooms in this house I’m blessed to live in. I get to pick up all the toys my kids…my kids
that I dreamed of…play with. I get to
write and post pictures to a blog that touches people. It’s a get to.
I have a lot to offer.
I am made in the image of Jesus and His Holy Spirit is with me wherever
I go. I get to give my passions and
myself to my family, friends, and people I come in contact with every single
day.
He invites us into the story.
“Jesus is our ladder. We don’t
have to climb up because He comes down to us.”
-Ann Voskamp
I can offer my gifts with thanksgiving or I can look at as
an “it’s just” really nothing. I choose
to live as though I really have something to offer. My time on this earth is so limited…that I
want to make a lasting impression for my kids.
I want them to remember that Jesus came down to us and comes out of us
in millions of ways. My gifts….your
gifts….should bring glory to God. And by
walking into the story He invites us into we can make a difference to the
people around us.
“Just
as a target is designed to narrow the aim of an arrow, God uses the desires of
our hearts to narrow the focus of where He wants our lives to make a mark for
eternity.” –Renee
Swope, A Confident Heart
It starts with an invitation from God. When we choose to accept that invitation we
can offer our gifts with thanksgiving.
By doing this we are letting Jesus come out of us in all the little daily
things we take for granted and that is something big!
“May the promise of growth outweigh our fear of stumbling.” -Emily Freeman
Step into the story He has for you! I'm laying down my fears and jumping in because I have lots to offer!
“You
have searched me, Lord, and you know me.” –Psalm 139:1

DeleteHi Michelle. First of all let me say that I love, love, love your photos; particularly the one on top with the cardinal - beautiful. I also really loved this quote: "But all these passions aren’t goals…they are more like arrows that lead me to Jesus." Awesome! Thanks for the reminder to change our "it's just" to "I get to." Such a little thing and yet that simple change has such a huge impact!
