“The Great Life and Psalm 81:10” P31 Online Bible Study Blog Hop!!

This week’s blog topic for me is “The Great Life and what Psalm 81:10 means to me.”  First off…let’s see what Psalm 81:10 says:

“I am the LORD your God, who brought you up out of Egypt.  Open wide your mouth and I will fill it.”

The last sentence stays with me.  I repeat it over and over and visualize it in my head.  I think about being empty and drained and that when I am in this place…something is going to fill me.  Something will always fill our empty places.  Like Lysa TerKeurst says, “Our life will follow where we choose to focus our vision.”  Our empty spaces will be filled by whatever we choose to fill it with.  

When I am empty I should have an appetite for Him?  Right?  He has to become greater and I have to become less.  John 3:30.

 

God wants to communicate with me. He wants me to stay without wavering.  He wants me to stick with Him and not to quit.  He wants me to stay full of His glory.

So, I open His word with my palms facing up and say fill me….daily.

I have had a camera in my hand long before my children were born…over 10 years.  This hobby of mine has become a quiet time with God.  It helps me frame the moments.  When you look through the camera…you can move…shift your stance… to bring something into focus.  When we shift ourselves and focus on God we see Him throughout our day.  Really see Him…in people, things, His masterpieces everywhere.  This fills me up.  I can see all that He has for me in the moment and it fills me.  

 

All things are from Him…through Him….and to Him.  Be still and know.

“Open wide your mouth and I will fill it.”  Letting God fill my empty places on a daily basis helps me to be full.  To be satisfied in the Word and to crave Him.  The more I stick with Him…the more I crave Him.   The more I desire His portions and not mine.    

1 Corinthians 2:7 (NEB) says, “His secret purpose framed from the very beginning [is] to bring us to our full glory.”  His secret purpose is to fill us full of His glory. But we have to first choose that. It’s a choice…choosing to be filled with all that He gives...grace and glory.  It’s a choice.  

The gratitude lists I write out daily help me to stay focused on Him…my choice.  When I focus on Him…giving thanks to Him…it changes my perspective and the way I see things.  Ann Voskamp says that “in giving thanks for each moment and savoring it as bread from His hands, I’d find sustenance and the grace of God Himself in it.” 

 Savoring it as bread!   Finding sustenance.  Full.

Shift your focus, read and listen to His word, pray and fill the empty places with Him.  For me it is my daily choice, my daily bread and what I want to be full of.

Who is not full when you have Jesus?  That is a GREAT life.
