Searching
Light
“You
have circled this mountain long enough. Now turn north.” ~Deuteronomy 2:3
Have you ever been so consumed with life and its busyness
that you feel lost? Do you feel like you are running around in circles? Maybe
trying to be noticed? Maybe trying to be heard? Yeah, me too.
When I make other things my priority and push Jesus aside –
I feel lost and empty. I feel drained and sluggish. Not enough coffee in the
world could give me the energy I need to power through the day. But, here is
the thing…I don’t notice that I’m doing it until I’m at the verge of losing my
words.
Losing my words on my family…friends…myself.
I keep circling my to-do list and searching for the next
thing to check off…when I need to be looking for His Light and staying put.
Here’s the beautiful thing about figuring this out…. when I
stop and look…He’s right there. He never left…and I’m positive that He tried to
get my attention. But I was searching for all the wrong things.
“But
from there you will see the Lord your God and you will find him, if you search
after him with all your heart and with all your soul.” ~Deuteronomy 4:29
The freedom that God is offering is right in front of
me…right there for the taking. I just need to remove the scales from my eyes to
see…see His truths…grab hold of His hand and let Him speak to me. Let His words
sink deep into my soul.
When Jesus is at my center – His Light warms me. His Light
brings this peace in the midst of my chaos. His truth – His Light – at my
center equals balance in my life. There is freedom in that.
Focus: Can
you set the timer on your phone today and make it a point to look for Jesus
today. Stop what you are doing and see Him.
Zoom
in (journal): What are you putting before Jesus? Ask Him to
reveal to you the things that you are circling that you need to walk away from
for a bit.
Capture: How
did the timer work for you today? Were you able to see His Light in His
creation, the eyes of the person in front of you, or maybe something you heard?
Remember this truth: When Jesus and His truths are at the center
of my life then everything around me will be grounded with Him.
