Take the Hill { Day 226 }

A 10 year old girl hops on a yellow motorcycle and takes off down the road.  One of her favorite things to do is to ride on this little motorcycle every single day.  Riding on it gives her a sense of freedom like nothing else and frankly - it is so much fun!  She rides all over the place and only comes back to fill her tank with gas. She wants to do some of the things that the other kids do on their bikes but she’s little and so is her motorcycle.  The other kids have bigger motorcycles and they are much bigger kids than she is.  These other kids can jump mounds of dirt hills with their bikes and she wants to jump a hill!  She’s afraid so she just rides over the hill slow until one day she decides to go for it.  She rides around the loop and coming out of the final turn before the jump she pulls back the throttle and gives it all she’s got.  No looking back…eyes on the hill and she takes the hill!  Not a big jump for her bike but she jumped it…she was in the air - for a few seconds.  That feeling was amazing and that 10 year old girl was me.  That little yellow motorcycle was mine and it is one of my greatest childhood memories.

“…the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” 1 John 4:4

I think about how I felt back then - I’m too little to do that…what I have is too little.  I feel that way today as a 41 year old woman.  I’m too little to do what God has called me to do.  I don’t have too much to offer. But God takes what I have to give and multiplies it.  IF I offer up the little I have to Him…He will take care of the rest and multiply what I give Him.  Just like the little boy who gave Jesus the little fish that he had.  Jesus took it, blessed it, and fed 5,000 people AND had leftovers!  He can multiply my little.

I recently went to a Women of Faith conference and had the pleasure of listening to Lysa TerKeurst, Christine Caine, Sheila Walsh, Lisa Harper, Patsy Clairmont, Pete Wilson and Matthew West.  It was amazing and if you ever get the chance to go…GO!

The conference was just what I needed and a gift from my husband!  I left it feeling more pumped for Jesus and more pumped to do what it is He is calling me to do than ever before.  I learned that I need to fight for my faith.  Lisa Harper says to “Fight for God as passionate as a Mommy fights for her children.”  That hit me hard because I don’t think I fight for God like I fight for my kids.  I went back to feeling like my 10 year old self staring at that dirt hill…but I’m too little to fight like that.  I don’t have enough knowledge or wisdom to fight for my faith. But I need to fight for Him…I need to fight for my faith with as much passion as I would for my two kids.

1 Peter 3:15 states that we are to make a defense "for the hope that you have."

Pete Wilson said that “in every soul…is belief and unbelief and faith and doubt.”  How I respond to that makes all the difference in the world.  If I don’t fight for my faith and I stay quiet - then what does that say about me?

“The milder you make the label the more potent you make the poison.”
Christine Caine

Leaving the Women of Faith conference I was forever changed.  I’m ready to fight!  I’m ready to step out and fight for Him because it’s what He did for us.  I’m ready to fill my tank with Him every day and fight.  I’m ready to pull back the throttle and take that hill!    Because in the end…we already know who conquers and wins. God!

This is the essence of really living, what it means to essentially be alive: surrender unshielded to the unknown — because there is a deeper Love that is Knowable.
~Ann Voskamp

What is it that God is asking you to do?  What hill is keeping you from fighting?  Pull back that throttle and take that hill with Him!

Worry? Proverbs 31 OBS Blog Hop

  This week's blog topic from Proverbs 31 OBS is on “Worry”… AND I know a thing or two about worry.  I’m betting a lot of you reading this do as well.  Dictionary.com defines worry as: “ to torment oneself with or suffer from disturbing thoughts; fret. ” Torment oneself.  Suffer.  Fret.  That’s what I can do to myself sometimes.   I’ve heard that if you worry you don’t really trust that God can handle it.  You don’t trust God with it.  That’s hard to swallow for me.  Because I worry about my kids, my family, me, friends, etc.  But I’m in the Bible every single day.  I am a Jesus girl.  So for me to worry and then see that my worry means I don’t trust that God can handle it is hard.  UGH.   I am getting better about it though.  My time with God every morning is helping.  When I start to worry about something…I begin to pray.  I stop the tormenting in its tracks and give it to Jesus.  Now, I may have to give it to Jesus more than once.

Running on Empty --- Proverbs 31 OBS Blog Hop Day

It’s the middle of summer and I feel like I am running on empty.  Ever feel that way?  The pace of summer is supposed to relax me but these past couple of days…I feel tired and done.  Right now- I don’t believe my life is telling the story of God’s grace.  Oh, I know His grace is all around me…He gives me grace D A I L Y.  But…am I giving grace to others?  No…not really because I am empty…drained…exhausted.  In fact, I told my kids that it would be an early bedtime last night because Mommy was done...that Mommy was on empty…that I had nothing more to give and we needed to just go to bed. <Insert Mommy guilt> I need to be filled up.  I want to be filled but I keep going through the motions of my day to day activities.  Depending on my own strength is draining me and causing me to say, “I have nothing more to give!”  When really…I do.  The other day, my daughter had a trail ride and as I stood in a big open field and looked out at God’s creati

Palms Up! { Day 220 }

This week, I started a new Bible study with Proverbs 31 on a book called “What Happens When Women Say Yes to God” by Lysa TerKeurst….and I’m excited for this study.  Really Excited!!   I haven’t always said Yes to God…in fact I have ignored Him and said no to Him a lot in my life.  Makes me sad to think of how many times I have been blind to all He has for me or to all the times He has tried to lead me in a different direction.  Fear and lack of confidence have always held me back from saying YES to Him.  Sometimes I think that I know which path is better for me to take and sometimes I feel like I could do it better.  Ouch!  Or sometimes I just feel like its too scary and I don’t like change too much.  Lysa TerKeurst talks in her book, “What Happens When Women Say Yes to God” about “Surprise Parties” and how it must break God’s heart when He has planned something for us and we are too tired to notice, too blind to see or we just don’t even care.  How many parties hav
